Clara is now 32 months

We had the opportunity to travel to visit friends during my vacation
week.  Clara did well in the car, occupying herself with books and
listening to her Barney CD.  She enjoyed eating out (a rare treat) and
meeting my friend's children. Due to unusual weather, she had the
opportunity to make her first snowman.  She learned a new word from
the free wi-fi in the different hotels "freezing" (as in, the video is
freezing).  Our last stop was to a friend whose daughter is just a few
months older than Clara.  Clara was so excited by the new toys to play
with, she could hardly eat!  She still talks about that visit and
seeing the "Big Elmo" (about 3 times as large as her stuffed Elmo).

Since our trip, Clara has gone back to her usual routines, with the
addition of occasionally being willing to wear underwear instead of
diapers.  Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to remember when to head up
to her potty, unless I remind her every so often (and she successfully
goes #1).   We're not pushing the issue, but not sure how much longer
this diaper thing can/will last.

Clara is speaking 6 word sentences!! So exciting considering how just
a few months ago she was still so behind.  She picks up new words
every day.  She is now able to make her desires known with much more
ease (including her odd food preferences like: hotdog buns with
mayonaise or a slice of bread with peanut butter and american cheese.) She has returned to taking naps mostly every day and sleeps well at
night.

As Christmas approaches we have tried to see what she understands
about the holiday.
Me: Clara, do you know who was born on Christmas?
Clara: (pause)  Santa Claus?

We even had thoughts of having her see the local high school
production of the Nutcracker (Baltimore School for the Arts) but I
hear the first scene involved someone being chased by rats (which I am
sure would lead to nightmares) so we will hold off another year.  What
age did your children enjoy the Nutcracker?
