(fingers-crossed) his sleep has improved!! (Yay!!) After a brief
period of _terrible_ sleep (waking up every couple of hours,
inconsolable for up to an hour at a time) probably due to teething
(per the pediatrician), he turned the corner and is now sleeping
_almost_ through the night. He goes to bed around 8:30 pm (would go
earlier but since he shares the room with his sister it is a little
too bright and noisy to go much sooner) after being nursed and in a
relaxed mood. We brush his teeth and he plays in his crib a little
while then drifts off to sleep. He use to wake up when Jason and I
came back upstairs to get ready for bed, but now stays asleep until
around 6:15 am (when Jason is up to walk the dog). Calem typically
soils his diaper when he first wakes up, so I change him, then nurse
him and he goes back to sleep for another hour or two, typically up
close to 8 AM. I'm hoping this lasts (but since he has many more
teeth to come, I won't get my hopes up quite yet).
He eats extremely well and enjoys most foods. His favorite are yogurt
melts, blueberries (cut in half), and whole-wheat naan (in little
bits). We still grind up most of his food using the Food Mill, but we
now give him beans and rice without grinding it. He enjoys playing
and spends much of his time exploring the house. He doesn't crawl,
rather, uses his arms to pull his body around. He is able to get into
a sitting position easily on his own. He loves putting things in his
mouth and looking for hidden cheerios in the least expected places (we
really try to pick up after the kids but sometimes one or two escapes
our notice, but not his!). He is getting a little better at bearing
weight on his legs, but is not currently cruising.
He loves to say (but not sure if he knows what they mean): mama, dada,
baba, and uh-oh. He still enjoys watching video clips of himself (or
his sister) and being read to (current favorite: Trucks Go! by Steve
Light). He is growing steadily, so much so that he is in 3T for his
pajamas, but still 2T for his clothing and onesies.
We are so thankful that he is growing and healthy, we cherish each and
every day with him (even the sleep-deprived ones).
