10 months old

Its been a few months without an updated post and what a difference a few months can make! Corben has had the chance to visit the beach for the first time a couple of months ago.  Unfortunately he learned the hard way that sand is not meant to go in your mouth! (We were watching him like a hawk but he still got his sand-covered fist into his mouth before we could stop it).  Last month we visited friends in the New England area.  He did better than expected during the car ride, often falling asleep.  There was one terrible bit though stuck in barely moving traffic at the GW Bridge in NYC where he was inconsolable and there was no where to pull over to see what was bothering him.  He did best holding a toy, such as a little remote control or duplo legos while awake in his carseat.  I think his favorite part of the trip was playing with his siblings. He very much wants to be part of the gang, even if its past his bedtime!
Pt was seen for his 9 month well child check and was measuring in at over 22 lbs and was 30.5 inches long! That's 9 inches taller than he was at birth!
Two weeks ago he started to crawl and has been on the move ever since. He spends hours playing on the floor. He'll inspect the legos and cars and will sit at the bottom of the stairs desparately trying to figure out how to climb up.  (No luck so far, thank goodness!).  He can put some weight on his feet, but isn't cruising yet.  He enjoys being read to (but not for more than a few minutes).
Corben loves to eat! He prefers to feed himself but isn't able to feed himself foods with a spoon yet.  He drinks small amounts of water from a regular cup (we still have to buy him a sippy cup) with assistance.
There is one hurdle we have to get through that I have been putting off---sleep training. He naps in his crib sometimes, but more often he naps on our bed laying next to either Jason or myself.  At nighttime, he nurses to sleep and then whenever he wakes up (typically around 10 pm,midnight and 5:30 AM) expects to briefly comfort nurse back to sleep.  I am not excited to ferberize this little one!! I am going to try in a couple of weeks though, it will be better for him in the long run to have consistency about his sleep routine, any sleep advice would be appreciated! I"m trying to decide whether to wean him off middle of the night nursing or just to do everything cold-turkey.
