Time is going by super quick, the first month has come and gone and I am just now getting a few minutes to write a brief update on Corben. He has developed a schedule of sorts, now sleeping from 9 pm to midnight or as late as 2 AM, eats a bit then heads back to bed til close to 6 AM (although sometimes he is also up at 4 AM). He sleeps until around 9 AM and is up for a few minutes quietly looking around. He still spends much of his time asleep, although when he is awake he is more alert and interested in looking at his environment. He enjoyed using the baby gym my parents have, trying to use his arms to reach for toys, but still unable to direct his arms the way he wants to move them.
Two weeks ago we started using Nizoral shampoo to get rid of the golden crusts on his eyebrows. Just like we did for Clara, we apply it 3-4 times per week to his eyebrows and scalp for 4 minutes then rinse off. His eyebrows are flake free and so is his hair (which he still has a lot of!).
Corben had his 2 month check up (although he was younger than 2 months) and boy has he grown! He’s now measuring 24 and ¾ of an inch and weighs 12 lbs 6 oz. (At his 2 week check he was measuring 23 inches and weighed 9 lbs 8 oz). He fits most comfortably in 6 month clothing!
When awake, he coos and tries to make eye contact sometimes, other times he is very focused on lights or areas of high contrast (like a dark frame against a light colored wall). He isn’t smiling much yet, but he tries to grin. (He has big smiles in his dreams).
His big brother and sister seem to be adjusting well to his presence. Calem is gentle with him, and will regularly say hello to him before resuming his play. Clara will help get items we need for the baby (burp cloth, bottle, etc), but doesn't ask to hold him or play with him. We’re grateful for the pretty seamless transition (although there have been instances that Jason is dealing with the baby and Clara and to get attention on him will act out---like pudding in hair and the walls!)
