Calem is now 23 months old! Just a few days away from being a two year old!!
He is able to keep busy for much of the day entertaining himself by looking at books, playing with legos, blocks or with little animal figures. Calem loves being read to. His favorite book is still Pete the Cat, but he also enjoys Goodnight Moon more than ever. He loves watching Elmo on youtube. He enjoys going to be early, so we try to get him and his sister in bed by 8 PM so then an unwind from a long day of play. Calem is finally doing a better job at sleeping!! He has a little cold, so it's hard to say if it will get even better, but for several nights in a row he only woke up briefly at 6 AM because the covers had fallen off of him. He was tucked in again and given a little bit of water in sippy cup then right back to sleep. His naps vary though, with some days no nap whatsoever! (Isn't it too soon to lose the nap??)
Calem continues to work with the speech therapist but he is making a little progress. He can make several consonant sounds (Ba, Ca, Da, Pa, Ma, etc) but has a ways to go to being easily understood by people other than Jason and I. He loves singing, and making music in general. He has shown interest in learning the violin, so for his 2 year birthday we are thinking of getting him a cardboard one to practice with (he's a bit young to start lessons!!).
His diet is still not that great He typically just eats fruit and snack foods (for example, dinner might be a yogurt, an apple and some Pirate's Booty.) Maybe when he's a little older he'll show more interest in "real food" (ie. spaghetti, beans and rice, soup, etc).
Calem is able to walk down one stair with assistance, but a flight of stairs is a bit much for him right now. He does enjoy his gym class at HoppinTots, maybe in a few months he'll be ready for soccer?
