Slowly but surely his independent spirit is starting to show. He has started to point towards objects (finally :) but is not yet "pointing and grunting." Despite this, he makes himself heard! He loves to laugh (and I love to hear him laugh!).
He is still not sleeping through the night, some nights are much better than others, on best nights, he only wakes up around 11:30 and 6:30 AM and can be comforted back to sleep, on bad nights he will also be up at 2:30 and 4:30 AM. He seems to be teething so it's been harder for him to fall asleep, recently had been able to fall asleep on his own with little fuss, but these days cries quite a bit before finally drifting off to sleep. He has started to be dependent on comfort objects of his blanket and a little stuffed elmo (Clara's old Elmo). He'll sit in his crib and rock back and forth while clinging to these objects, it is so sad but darling at the same time. He typically settles down once Clara is also in the room.
He is tyically willing to try most foods, but his favorites are currently orange, apple, cheese, noodles, and yogurt melts. He does not use the bottle at all, drinking with help from an open cup or cup with a straw. He still nurses at night (and comfort nurses in the mornings).
His gross motor skills are still behind. He will pull himself to stand by holding onto objects but he does not cruise for more than a few steps before dropping back into a crawling position. He does not stand alone yet. Not sure if he should be getting physical therapy to help him develop his motor skills, or whether its just a developmental thing that takes time. He's not due for a well-child check for another month. In the meanwhile, we'll focuse on the fine motor skills he does enjoy, like reading and turning the pages, scribbling and rolling a ball back and forth. He waves hello and goodbye, and rarely says mama or dada, but does babble to himself quite a bit. I'm trying not to get anxious about this either. Jason still remembers some of the lessons from the speech therapist we had for Clara, so is already working on some of the basics with Calem
