He loves walking! He is getting better and better at it every day (my favorite was his little drunk sailor walk). He must be going through a growth spurt because he is eating like a champ (although is still not willing to eat all foods, he prefers snack items and fruits). He likes to use a real fork and spoon to feed himself.
Jason says he noticed a change in his behavior a couple of weeks ago. Now he seems to be a little more determined to do his own thing, even if it goes against what you've instructed. "Don't throw blocks" might as well be "Please throw blocks!" "We don't write on walls" becomes "Walls are a great place to test out your markers." He does have some less separation anxiety, so that is good at least.
His favorite summertime activities include drawing, splashing in the tiny blow up pool in the front yard, trying to put puzzles together, stacking blocks (7-8 at a time), and having the same story read to him over and over. He loves legos, but so does his sister so this can lead to some tension to say the least.
Nighttime is still a challenage. The best this past month was one night where he only wokeup once at 4 AM. That was probably his best ever actually. Lately he is teething plus has a stuffy nose so he doesn't sleep deeply and takes even longer to return to sleep (up to an hour of cyring it out before he gives up until waking up again 3 hours later). I can't even imagine what it would be like for him to sleep through the night (6 hours in a row)!
He is still not speaking, but shakes his head no and yes and sometimes says mama and dada. His comfort objects, a striped blanket and a beach ball, both go by "ba" and his stuffed elmo sounds like "eh-ma." We'll see what the speech therapists say when he gets evaluated next month. In the meanwhile, he makes himself understood pretty easily.
