what he wants. He routintely uses the term "mama" and "dada" when he
wants me and he's upset (but doesn't use them when he's in a good
mood). He is trying to sound out words but nothing really clearly
sticks out, although he is trying to make a variety of sounds. His
receptive language seems to be doing well, he can follow one step
commands. He's also very good at matching a word with a picture (ie.
when asked to find the frog in the picture, can identify it with
ease).
He loves to draw (the marker doesn't end up in his mouth quite as
much), and tries to work on puzzles (the wooden ones with cut outs
where you have to put the correct animal in the spot, or match up the
shape). He is very playful and loves to explore and is putting fewer
things in his mouth (but if he happens to find on old Cheerio, you can
bet he'll put it in his mouth!). He enjoys "reading," his current
favorite is "Peekaboo morning" almost as much as he enjoys tearing up
paper (some of Clara's Highlight's magazine's have fallen victim
already).
His first trip to the dentist went well, which was a relief because we
rarely brush his teeth twice a day (it's hard enough to brush it once
per day), but we're trying to get better about this. He is doing
better with drinking milk out of a cup with or without a straw, but
still nurses at least 2 or 3 times per day. He is a little picky
about which foods he is willing to eat, but definitely enjoys most
sweets, especially fruit like orange and watermelon and pomegranate
seeds.
Calem sleeps with his blankie and a small elmo (formerly Clara's
elmo). He still does not sleep very well, often sleeping just one
hour during the day, and 10 to 11 hours at night. The evening sleep
is interrupted still around 1:30, 6:30, and 7 AM. He will sometimes
be up at 3:30 as well. He can sleep well if he wants to, he is not a
fan of waking up earlier than 8:30 AM and will do everything possible
to stay sleeping on school days (he has to get ready for school too
since he can't be left alone while Clara is being dropped off).
He has not progressed this month with his gross motor development. He
still crawls to get around, and sometimes will cruise for a few steps.
He does spend some time standing leaning against something
(especially his sisters kitchen which is the perfect height for him,
he loves opening and closing the cabinets), he wasn't doing this a few
weeks ago.
As for stats, his length remains in the 75th percentile (32 1/4
inches) and weight in the 25th percentile (22 lbs, 12 oz).
