This past month she has grown increasingly interested in the computer.
She will run to the office chair in front of the computer and pat on
the seat. If she is refused, she usually starts crying. Jason has
had to get creative to distract her away from it. She does end up
watching about an hour of computer per day (a mix of Spanish DVDs by
Whistlefritz and YouTube of Sesame Street, Barney, Mr. Rodgers, and
"Part of your world" from Disney's the Little Mermaid.) She figured
out how to load the DVDs and turn the computer on and climb onto the
chair, fortunately, she hasn't figured out how to type in the password
:)
Clara is still not speaking much, same words as always (mostly "what's
that" and sometimes "Itak" (for Isaac, my fathers name), very rarely:
ma ma or dada). We submitted her info to see if she qualifies for a
further work up by and organization that specializes in infant and toddler development. Maybe she's just a "late talker" but I want to make sure we're not missing anything...
Despite not speaking much, she understands everything! She knows many words in English and Spanish. She is great at following directions (when she wants to). She loves to dance around and rock on her
rocking horse (same one used by my younger brothers over 20 years
ago), and explore. She has a little boy doll she carries around the
house which she was given in preparation of her upcoming little
brother. She likes to put socks on him and a hat (the original one is
missing so he uses a sock as a hat too!)
To burn off a little of her engery, Jason has been taking Clara to
Story Hour, Gym Class, and Soccer Class. They even went to the zoo
last week!! She has been acting a little bit shy towards the
beginning of each class but does warm up towards the end. I wish I
could go on these outings with them, but I'm still on bedrest (8 weeks
down, 3 more to go!). She still spends quality time with me in the
evening, lying next to me on the couch while I read to her (and she
drinks her bottle of milk, I'm guessing the dentist she'll see next
week will not be happy to know she's still using the bottle!).
We are just now starting to prepare for her little brother (at 34
weeks we have his crib, but its not yet assembled. Don't have any
diapers yet, hospital bag has to be packed. We're hoping he stays
inside at least until 36 (ideally 37 weeks) but in the meanwhile,
things are still day by day!
