As I write (close to 1 PM) Clara has been playing in her crib for an
hour (ideally she'd be napping this whole time). As some of you may
have heard, Clara is going through some changes in her nap routine
which are hopefully temporary (!) (she use to nap once at day for 2-3
hours) and some days are better than others. Fortunately, she is
still sleeping well at night so at least that hasn't changed!
The bigger news is that Clara is walking!!! About two weeks ago she
finally started to take off. For the past month she has walked one or
two steps but in her gym class when the other kids were walking and
playing she decided to join them!! I was very surprised to see her
walk that many steps in a row. She is a very cautious walker and will
often hold onto furniture if there is any around, but when she wants
something enough, she will take off in that direction.
Clara's days are pretty routine, most of the morning spent exploring,
going for a stroll, then nap time in the early afternoon and bedtime
around 7 or 7:30 (but she usually stays up til 8 PM). We'll be moving
at the end of this month so I imagine this routine may change a
little. I am very excited about moving to the DC area and am hoping
to have time to take her out on the weekends to the zoo. I'm not sure
what activity we'll sign her up for (so far we've done swimming and
gym, maybe music next? or more gym time? we only do one at a time...)
Clara is less fascinated by shoes and this month has taken a liking to
cars and trucks (and anything with big wheels). She is very much
attached to her blanket and some days insists on taking it every where
(making if function like a very large Swiffer), so we try hard to keep
our floors clean!
What's really helpful is she is willing to stay in her pack-n-play
much longer (up to 45 minutes or so) and play on her own while we do
something else (as long as we're her view) like be on facebook ;)
Tomorrow is her well-child visit so we're curious to know how much
taller she's gotten from 3 months ago.
In the meanwhile, she's napping so I better get to packing!!
